A Cooper’s hawk, moments after it was chased from a nest of brown thrashers in Forest Park. Cooper’s hawks have become increasingly common in urban neighborhoods, partly because of the presence of pigeons and doves and feeders that residents put out to attract birds on which Cooper’s hawks feed.
