Political experience: None.

Professional experience: Became a volunteer firefighter in 1990, worked at Cullman Emergency Medical Service as a paramedic from 1991-2002, taught Wallace State College students for nine years as an instructor about treating patients in emergency situations. Since 2002, Hasting has operated a sole practitioner law practice, where he has traveled statewide to represent thousands of clients and argued in hundreds of trials.

Civic experience: Has been actively involved with coaching youth sports for all three of his sons’ sports teams.

Education: Bachelor of Science from UAB, juris doctorate from Birmingham School of Law.

Main issues: Hasting is devoted to ensuring that both the rights of the accused and the victims of crime are not violated. He believes that justice should not be based on a person’s stature or wealth or name. He is not in favor of general and over broad “red flag” laws, which are subject to abuse and misuse.
