Daily Averages, Positivity Rates for COVID-19 Continue to Improve

There were 442 new cases of COVID-19 in Alabama in Friday's update by the state Department of Public Health, dropping the daily average for the past week to 429. That was the lowest seven-day average since a count of 425 cases a day last June 8. The figure has dropped from a high of 4,280 cases a day on Jan. 10. There were 442 new cases of COVID-19 in Alabama in Friday’s update by the state Department of Public Health, dropping the daily average for the past week to 429.

That was the lowest seven-day average since a count of 425 cases a day last June 8. The figure has dropped from a high of 4,280 cases a day on Jan. 10. The state has recorded 513,580 cases since the pandemic began last March.

ADPH listed 19 deaths in the 24-hour update, bringing the total to 10,523 over the course of the pandemic.

The percentage of people who have shown positive on COVID-19 tests in Alabama stood at 10.28%. That is down from a high of 37.98% on Jan. 5 but still above the 5% level that authorities consider to be ideal.
