School Grades in Jefferson County Run the Gamut

If all the schools in Jefferson County were graded together, they would have a solid B average.

But of course, children don’t attend an amalgamation of schools. The spread of grades that schools in Jefferson County scored on the Alabama Department of Education State Report Card ranges from the top to the bottom.

Tarrant City Schools was the only district in the county that scored an F on the report card. Its elementary school, high school and intermediate school all were given F grades.

Five districts scored A’s: Mountain Brook, Vestavia Hills, Trussville, Homewood and Hoover.

To look up your children’s schools, you can go to the state department’s Report Card site, choose the school district and then the school that interests you. You also can compare up to three schools side-by-side on that site.
