Political experience: Longtime Republican activist. Has served as chairman of the Lauderdale County Republican Party and on the State Republican Executive Committee. First run for public office.
Professional experience: Ear, nose and throat doctor and small business owner. Practiced medicine in the Shoals area for more than 30 years.
Civic experience: Shoals Christian School board of trustees member, 2001-2016. University of North Alabama board of trustees member, 1994-2006. Has volunteered his time for numerous philanthropic causes, including multiple trips to Peru and trips to Nicaragua, Honduras and South Korea on medical assistance programs and surgery missions.
Education: Bachelor’s, University of North Alabama, 1975; doctor of medicine, University of South Alabama, 1979; interned at the Caraway Methodist Medical Center; 1979-’80; residency at the University of Tennessee Department of Otolaryngology in Memphis, 1980-‘83.
Main issues: Running on a conservative platform that includes school choice, the elimination of common core standards and a reduction in red tape. Proposes to expand dual enrollment and Advanced Placement options in high schools, eliminate “woke” ideology from curriculums and put “parents back in the driver’s seat with their children’s education.”
