Getting around Birmingham at times can be, well, interesting.
If you want to have a say in how that might change in the future, go tell transportation officials what you think in a survey being conducted by the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham.
The survey is for anyone who drives, bikes, walks, rides transit or moves freight, asking a series of questions about what you think of traveling in the greater Birmingham area and how you envision it in the future.
It also allows you to make suggestions for specific locations by virtually placing pins on a map on the survey’s website, and you can read notes left on it by others.
The survey also asks you to rank the traffic issues that concern you most, including traffic congestion, air quality, public transportation, bad pavement, traffic safety and walking and biking infrastructure, in addition to how you would like transportation money spent in the future.
Your answers will be considered as the RPCGB updates the Regional Transportation Plan for the next 30 years.
“The plan helps ensure transportation projects are coordinated among local governments, state and federal agencies, and regional partners, while providing a framework for future transportation funding decisions,” a statement from the commission reads.
Links to more information about the transportation plan and its design process, including supporting documents for the current plan adopted five years ago, are available on the survey website.
