Jefferson County on Thursday renewed its agreement with Ganicus for the My JeffCo App, which residents can use to report problems they want the county to address.

“Potholes, missed trash pickups, illegal dumping, sewer covers off,” Public information Officer Helen Hays said, acknowledging that trash concerns go to Amwaste. “It (the app) has an extensive (list of) FAQ (frequently asked questions) attached.”

The app is available on Apple and Android formats and can be downloaded here to give residents direct access to make reports to the county.

Commission President Jimmie Stephens opened the meeting by acknowledging the passing of Dr. Frederick Hamilton, director of the county’s Department of Community Services.

“We lost a friend and a colleague and a true giver,” Stephens said. “There are givers and takers in this world. Dr. Frederick Hamilton was a good friend of mine and also a giver. He fulfilled needs within the county. God bless him and his family. He will be missed.”
