Has written two books involving the intersection of mental health and law enforcement, been featured in “The First 48” and hosted “Reasonable Doubt.”

Civic experience: Member, 100 Black Men, 2016-2023 (vice president, 2018-2020); president, Lifting as We Climb Foundation, 2023-25; board of directors, Greater Birmingham YMCA, 2025-present; member, Beta Mu Nu chapter of Omega Psi Phi.

Education: Ensley High School, 1989-93; Talladega College, summa cum laude, criminal justice, 2021.

Main issues: He wants to modernize the department, strengthen community policing and make sure every neighborhood gets equal protection under the law.
