Political experience: Ran unsuccessfully for Alabama State Board of Education District 5, 2024.

Professional experience: Enlisted in U.S. Army, 1982, and served as a nuclear missile technician until 1984; became an ordained minister and served as a pastor for 27 years before retiring in March.

Civic experience: Executive director, Joshua Generation Ministries, which elevates inner-city and at-risk youth through mentorship, education, leadership development, and community support. As a pastor in Selma, he helped more than 150 at-risk young people earn college degrees and helped more than 100 obtain vocational and trade certifications.

Education: Graduated Southside High School, 1981; attended Livingston University for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Army.
