Maurice Mercer

Maurice Mercer is running for the Democratic nomination to the U.S. House District 6 seat.

Residence: Pelham

Political experience: Currently running for U.S. House of Representatives, District 6. Was the first Black resident elected to the Pelham City Council, where he served three terms, including as president from 2020 to 2025. He earned the distinction of Advanced Certified Municipal Officer from the Alabama League of Municipalities. He was nominated Public Servant of the Year for three years in a row.

Professional experience: Account executive for a Fortune 500 company.  

Civic experience: Has served on numerous boards, committees, and nonprofit organizations focused on strengthening communities, expanding opportunities and serving others.

Education: Graduated from Troy University with a degree in business administration.
