AG Marshall Pulls in Half a Million This Month Alone; King Reports Almost $80K

Troy King and Steve Mashall

Attorney General Steve Marshall has raised more than a half million dollars in campaign contributions so far this month, according to reports he filed Monday with the Secretary of State’s office.

The majority of that money, $300,000, was contributed on Monday by the Washington-based RAGA Action Fund, which has given $735,000 to Marshall’s campaign since the election cycle began last year. RAGA is an affiliate of the Republican Attorney Generals Association.

Marshall and former Attorney General Troy King face off in a July 17 runoff for the Republican nomination for attorney general.

Marshall filed one report that listed $257,850 in contributions during the filing period spanning June 30 to July 6. All of those were made during July 3-6. He offered a second report that showed $327,100 in contributions on Monday alone, including the $300,000 from RAGA.

King reported raising $79,885 during the June 30-July 6 reporting period.

Marshall has raised $2.99 million and spent $2.65 million since his campaign for the Republican nomination began last year. He reported a balance of $353,254 in his account as the July 17 GOP primary runoff nears.

King has raised $1.89 million and spent $1.83 million, leaving a balance of $55,138.

King, who is seeking nomination for the job he held from 2004 to 2011, drew his biggest support during the week from Franklin PAC of Montgomery, a business-affiliated committee that made two contributions of $15,000 each. Giddie Inc. of Helena also gave $15,000.

The winner of the GOP runoff will face Democrat Joseph Siegelman, son of former Gov. Don Siegelman, in the November general election.

Following are contributors of $5,000 and up to King and Marshall.
