Alabama’s cases of COVID-19 stood at 5,008 today, with 168 deaths.

The Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed 113 of those deaths resulted from COVID-19 and is investigating the remainder of the cases, in which people who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 died.

Since the pandemic began, 641 people have been hospitalized with the disease.

Jefferson County has the most cases, 683. Twenty-six deaths have been reported in the county, 15 of those confirmed after review by the health department.

Mobile has the highest number of reported deaths in the state with 32, 18 of those confirmed by the health department. It has 673 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Lee County follows with 15 reported deaths and 310 cases; and Chambers County had 14 reported deaths and 255 cases.

Other counties with more than 100 confirmed cases are: Shelby, 271, Montgomery, 230; Madison, 201; Tallapoosa, 192; Marshall, 163; Tuscaloosa, 149; and Baldwin, 116.
