Alabama Reports 639 New Cases of COVID-19, Ending Four Days of Decline in Numbers
Alabama recorded 639 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing its total during the pandemic to 30,670 and ending four consecutive days of decline in the daily increase.
The Alabama Department of Public Health also reported on its dashboard of information for the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. Tuesday that there were 23 new deaths from the disease, raising the overall total to 854. It was the greatest number of deaths for a single day since June 8, when there were 26.
The report listed 427 cases and 10 deaths as probably related to COVID-19, but still under investigation.
The state is averaging 647 new cases a day for the past two weeks, the Health Department said. There had been 882 new cases last Thursday, 787 on Friday, 543 on Saturday, 472 on Sunday and 433 on Monday.
Montgomery County remained the leader in total confirmed cases, adding 53 in the daily report for a total of 3,307. The central Alabama county reported sixth deaths to bring its total to 85.
Jefferson County had the most new cases, reporting 75 to raise its total to 3,100. It had one death, for a total of 126. Mobile County had 38 new cases for a totalof 3,052, and its death county remained at 132, the most in the state.
