Yellow-rumped warbler

The yellow-rumped warbler is a winter fixture in Railroad Park and other parts of Birmingham. This warbler is a member of the family of new world warblers, which has sustained one of the largest declines “in abundance” in the past 50 years, according a recent study detailing the dramatic drop in the North American bird population. However, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology says the yellow-rumped warbler numbers have been “generally stable.” (Source: Tom Gordon)
