COVID-19 Cases Up to 6,467, With 219 Deaths
Alabama had 6,467 confirmed cases of COVID-19 today. Six more people were reported to have died from the disease Sunday, bringing the total to 219.
Overall, 861 people have been hospitalized with a COVID-19 diagnosis since the first case was reported March 13, more than a third of whom have been treated in ICUs, according to Alabama Department of Public Health data.
Jefferson County is hardest hit with 841 cases, with 33 deaths. Mobile County is close behind with 926 caes, and it leads the state with 41 deaths.
Lee County follows with 24 reported deaths and 367 cases; Chambers County had 18 reported deaths and 286 cases; and Tallapoosa county, also in eastern Alabama, had 17 deaths and 267 cases.
Other counties with 100 or more confirmed cases are: Shelby, 314; Marshall, 308; Montgomery, 289; Madison, 213; Tuscaloosa, 194; Baldwin, 165; and Etowah, 125.
