COVID-19 Cases Hit 5,134 in Alabama

Alabama’s cases of COVID-19 stood at 5,134 today, with 175 deaths.

The Alabama Department of Public Health has confirmed 144 of those deaths resulted from COVID-19 and is investigating the remainder of the cases, in which people who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 died.

Since the pandemic began, 699 people have been hospitalized with the disease.

Jefferson County has the most cases, 692. Twenty-six deaths have been reported in the county, 16 of those confirmed after review by the health department.

Mobile has the highest number of reported deaths in the state with 35, 28 of those confirmed by the health department. It has 700 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Lee County follows with 18 reported deaths and 317 cases; and Chambers County had 15 reported deaths and 257 cases.

Other counties with 100 or more confirmed cases are: Shelby, 273, Montgomery, 231; Madison, 202; Tallapoosa, 194; Marshall, 172; Tuscaloosa, 154; Baldwin, 120; and Etowah, 100.
