Main issues: According to a recent article on tuscaloosanews.com, Wallace “would like to see certain rules and standards he feels are arbitrary to be done away with in order to improve schools. As an example, he mentioned the closure of the Akron Community School and Sunshine High School in Hale County. The schools were closed in 2015 because of dwindling enrollment, but neither school was on the state’s list of ‘failing schools,’ which is reserved for the bottom 6 percent of schools across Alabama.” According to the article Wallace said, “To me, that hurts communities. Those schools were the lifeblood here.”
