Elected natioal president of the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women, 2021; Named National Legislator of the Year by the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, 2015.
Professional experience: Givan & Associates Law Firm, 2004-present; Birmingham Housing Authority Hope 6 Administrator for Metropolitan Gardens and Tuxedo Terrace, 2000-2010.
Education: Bachelor’s in political science, Miles College, 1992; and juris doctorate, Miles School of Law, 1996.
