Hometown: Birmingham
Political experience: Ran for Jefferson County circuit clerk in 2018 but lost in the primary runoff.
Professional experience: Has worked in a variety of fields, from law to media. Shortly after earning her law degree, Parker started working in the circuit clerk’s office in 2005 as a document reviewer and a project manager. From 2014 to 2018, she hosted a talk show on WJLD Radio.
Civic experience: Worked with Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church on its Revitalization Project from 2015 to 2016. In 2016, she worked with the Jefferson County Courthouse Mural Committee. She has also sponsored local events to raise awareness for breast cancer and Sickle Cell Awareness Month.
Education: Bachelor’s degree, University of South Alabama, 1998; law degree, Southern University Law Center, 2002. In 2011, she earned her MBA from Emory University Goizueta Business School.
Main issues: Parker has stated that she hopes to partner with local banks and investment firms to promote financial literacy and transparency for the benefit of local citizens.
