Marshall Remains Far Ahead in Fundraising for Attorney General Race
Incumbent Republican Steve Marshall dominates Democratic challenger Joseph Siegelman in fundraising for their campaigns for Alabama attorney general.
Campaign reports the candidates filed Monday with the Secretary of State’s Office show Marshall raised $53,800 to Siegelman’s $18,658 during the period of Oct. 20 to Oct. 26.
Siegelman spent $25,210 during the week while Marshall spent $2,658.
Since the campaign began last year, Marshall has raised $3.13 million and spent $3.49 million, mostly on the Republican primary and runoff elections earlier this year. He began the election cycle in 2017 with $510,549 in his account.
Siegelman has raised $580,028 and spent $563,419 during the election cycle.
Marshall’s biggest contributor during the period of Oct. 20 to Oct. 26 was the Alabama Power Co. Employees State PAC at $15,000. Overall for the campaign, his top supporter has been the Republican Attorney Generals Association Action Fund of Washington at $735,000.
The biggest contributor to Siegelman during the most recent reporting period was Robert Carey of Scottsdale, Arizona, with $7,000. His top donor for the entire campaign has been the North Alabama PAC of Huntsville at $40,500.
The two candidates meet in the Nov. 6 general election.
