Political experience: Elected State Representative, District No. 57, 2006, 2010, 2014; ran for Alabama Senate, 2009.

Professional experience: Assistant professor of political science, Miles College; director of economic and community development, City of Bessemer; director of community and economic development, Lawson State Community College; adjunct instructor of government, Lawson State Community College. Some of her responsibilities included business recruitment and retention, downtown revitalization as well as neighborhood revitalization and land use planning.

Education: Bachelor’s in mass communication in 1995 and a Master of Public Administration in 1997, both from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Civic experience: Board member of Greater Birmingham Ministries; founding member of the Midfield Voter’s League.
