PACs: Who’s Behind the Pacronyms?

Following is a list of political action committees that have given money since the beginning of 2017 to candidates in this year’s Alabama elections. Included is information about the PACs and sources of their money.

ABC Merit PAC: Associated Builders and Contractors.

ACJRC PAC: Alabama Civil Justice Reform Committee PAC; contributors include Alfa Mutual Insurance Co., Northport Health Services Inc., Senior Care Pharmacy Inc.

ACPA-AL PAC: Concrete Pavement Association, supports pro-business candidates.

ACULAC, Birmingham: PAC of the Alabama Credit Union Legislative Action Council.

Aga Sack PAC, Birmingham: Alabama Grocers Association PAC.

Alabama Beverage Association PAC: Supported by bottlers of soft drinks and other products.

ABPAC: Alabama Builders Political Action Committee.

Alabama Dental PAC: Supported by dental association.

Alabama Development PAC: Supports economic development in the state. Donors include construction, real estate and other development groups.

AlabamaFirst PAC: One of several pro-business PACs chaired by Darby Heather Coleman; contributors include American Pharmacy Cooperative, Franklin L. Haney Co. LLC of Chattanooga, Great Southern Wood Preserving, Protective Life, Fine Geddie and Associates.

Alabama Medical PAC: Also known as ALAPAC. The committee of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama.

Allied Women PAC: A conservative group that has raised money through small individual donations, mostly from women; it has contributed to Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Dawson.

AUTO-PAC: Alabama Automobile Dealers Association.

BANKPAC: Contributions from Alabama banks.
