Political experience: Elected chair in 2012 of the Alabama Minority Republican Party and is now serving his third, two-year term; former chair of the Birmingham Minority GOP; member of the steering and executive committees of the Alabama Republican Party; ran unsuccessfully for the Alabama Public Service Commission in 2012.
Civic experience: Phillip serves an associate minister for the Bessemer 24th Street Church of Christ.
Professional experience: Technical education teacher with the Jefferson County School System for the past 16 years; appointed by former Gov. Robert Bentley and re-appointed by Gov. Kay Ivey to the Alabama Crime Victims Compensation Commission; appointed by Ivey last year to the Alabama Board of Registered Interior Designers.
Main Issues: Phillip Brown has been a technical education teacher for the past 16 years. He said his love for the community and dedication to his students makes him the perfect candidate to be circuit clerk. “As circuit clerk, I will commit myself to making the court’s administrative department as efficient and effective as possible and seize every technological advantage to move Jefferson forward toward a new day.”
