Republican Lt. Gov. Candidate Ainsworth Continues Far Ahead in Contributions Last Week
Republican Will Ainsworth, the heavy favorite in the race for lieutenant governor, raised $84,324 in cash contributions last week, compared to $180 for Democrat Will Boyd, according to reports filed Monday with the Alabama Secretary of State’s Office.
Ainsworth, a member of the Alabama House of Representatives from Marshall County, has reported itemized cash contributions of $1.25 million, and self and family loans of $1.15 million since the campaign began last year. He has spent $2.59 million, mostly on the Republican primary and runoff elections earlier this year.
Boyd, a minister in Florence, has raised $46,563 and spent $42,810 throughout the campaign.
The two are on the ballot for the Nov. 6 general election.
