Alabama added 816 new cases of COVID-19, but reported no new deaths, in Sunday’s daily report by the state Department of Public Health.

There have been 165,342 cases of the illness in the state since the pandemic began in March: 145,590 confirmed cases and 19,752 listed as probable. A confirmed case is defined as one in which a person has tested positive for the disease; a probable case involves a person who has been exposed to someone with COVID-19 and shows symptoms of the disease but has not been tested, or a person who underwent an antigen test and showed positive.

A total of 2,664 deaths from the coronavirus have been reported in the state. That includes 2,508 confirmed and 156 probable.

Jefferson County led the state with 94 new cases, followed by Madison County with 74 and Tuscaloosa County with 73.
