Political experience: First run for political office.
Professional experience: Retired school administrator and hearing officer for the Birmingham City Schools. He began working for the system in 1972.
Education: Graduate, Hayes High School; bachelor’s, South Carolina State University; master’s, Alabama A&M University; juris doctorate, Miles College School of Law.
Civic experience: Williams has served on the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Board, the Birmingham Police Community Relations Committee, the boards for the League of Women Voters of Greater Birmingham, the Birmingham Chapter of the NAACP and GASP. He is a member of the Birmingham Business Alliance and the Birmingham Retired Education Alliance

Main issues: Williams has said every neighborhood matters and has the same problems: roads, dilapidated housing, overgrown fields. He said those issues need to be addressed citywide.
