Proposed Alabama Constitutional Amendment Would Ban Naturalized Citizens From State Office (Alabama Reflector)
A proposed amendment filed for the 2026 session would ban naturalized citizens from holding many political offices in the state. Only “natural born citizens” of the United States would be allowed to run for offices such as governor, lieutenant governor, state legislators, civil and criminal judges, attorney general and secretary of state, and local sheriffs and district attorneys. Currently, the only office that requires a candidate to be a natural-born citizen is president. Sen. Donnie Chesteen, R-Geneva, is sponsoring the proposal, which he said came from Secretary of State Wes Allen.

Alabama Man Charged With Threatening Rabbis, Imam and Others in Multiple Southern States (Associated Press)
A man from southwestern Alabama has been arrested by federal prosecutors who allege he made a series of menacing calls and texts to rabbis in Alabama and Louisiana, an imam in Georgia, a church in North Carolina and others. Multiple firearms and ammunition were later found in man’s home, authorities said.
