964 New Cases of COVID-19 Added in Sunday Report

Alabama added 964 cases of COVID-19 but no new deaths in the Alabama Department of Public Health's daily update Sunday. There have been 172,626 cases of the coronavirus since the pandemic began in March. That includes 151,527 confirmed cases and 21,099 listed as probable. Jefferson County led the state with 106 new cases, with Tuscaloosa County reporting 104. The Health Department's COVID Dashboard lists 2,788 deaths in Alabama, including 2,620 confirmed as having resulted from COVID-19 and 168 shown as probable. Read more.

Saturday Update: 1,288 New Cases of COVID-19, Two Deaths

The Alabama Department of Public Health reported an additional 1,288 cases of COVID-19 in its daily update on Saturday. That brought the number of cases in the state since the pandemic began in March to 171,662 -- 150,696 confirmed cases and 20,966 listed as probable. The report added two deaths, both confirmed to be from COVID-19. There have been 2,620 confirmed deaths and 168 probable. Read more.

Another 1,185 Cases, 50 Deaths in Thursday’s COVID-19 Report

The Alabama Department of Public Health's COVID-19 Dashboard added 1,185 new cases and 50 deaths in Thursday's daily update. There have been 169,162 cases of the disease in Alabama, with 148,659 confirmed and 20,503 listed as probable. The update raised the number of deaths since the pandemic began in March to 2,756, consisting of 2,590 confirmed and 166 probable. The Health Department has said that the number of deaths added each day often includes cases from previous days or weeks that were confirmed and reported on a delayed basis. Read more.

Update Shows 784 New Cases of COVID-19 in Alabama

The Alabama Department of Public Health reported 784 new cases of COVID-19 in Wednesday's daily update. The report brought the number of cases of the coronavirus to 167,977 in Alabama over the course of the pandemic. That includes 147,745 confirmed cases and 20,232 listed as probable. Read more.

Hearing on Carraway Rezoning Proposals Set for Nov. 10

The Birmingham City Council has set a Nov. 10 public hearing to discuss the proposed rezoning of several properties around the former Carraway Methodist Medical Center campus. The hospital, located at 1600 Carraway Boulevard, closed due to bankruptcy in 2008 and has been abandoned ever since. In 2019, Corporate Realty announced plans to redevelop the property into a multi-use site including retail, dining, residential and entertainment spaces. The existing hospital structures will have to be demolished, developers told residents last year, though the existing parking decks will remain. Read more.

COVID-19 Case Count, Hospitalization Rate Rise in Tuesday Report

The number of cases of COVID-19 in Alabama grew by 1,117 cases, but there were no new deaths, the state Department of Public Health reported in Tuesday's daily update. The report also showed an increase in the number of people hospitalized with the disease. There were 856 individuals in Alabama hospitals with the coronavirus on Monday, the most since a total of 857 on Sept. 9. Overall, 18,440 people have been hospitalized in the state for treatment of the disease since the pandemic began in March. Read more.

734 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Monday Update

The Alabama Department of Public Health added 734 cases of COVID-19 and one death in its daily report Monday. The state has recorded 166,076 cases of the disease, consisting of 146,223 confirmed cases and 19,853 listed as probable. There have been 2,665 deaths in the state since the pandemic began -- 2,509 confirmed and 156 probable. The number of people hospitalized in Alabama stood at 812 on Sunday, the highest since a count of 814 on Sept. 14. The highest single-day total of the pandemic was 1,613 on Aug. 6. Read more.

Alabama added 816 new cases of COVID-19, but reported no new deaths, in Sunday's daily report by the state Department of Public Health. There have been 165,342 cases of the illness in the state since the pandemic began in March: 145,590 confirmed cases and 19,752 listed as probable. 1,061 New Cases, 11 Deaths Reported in Alabama COVID-19 Update

The  Alabama Department of Public Health on Saturday added 1,061 cases of COVID-19 and 11 deaths from the disease to the state's totals for the pandemic. After Saturday's 24-hour update, the agency's COVID-19 Dashboard showed 164,526 cases since the first positive test result in the state was reported on March 13. That includes 144,901 confirmed cases and 19,625 listed as probable. There have been 2,664 deaths, including 2,508 shown as confirmed and 156 as probable. Read more.

Alabama’s COVID-19 Count Rises by 1,490 in Friday Report

Alabama added 1,490 new cases of COVID-19, along with 16 deaths from the disease, in Friday's daily update by the state Department of Public Health.  A spokesman for the department said the daily total was inflated because it included an undetermined number of cases dating back several weeks but not reported to the agency until Thursday. There had been 557 new cases reported on the previous day's dashboard. There have been 163,465 cases of the disease in Alabama since the pandemic began in March. That includes 143,900 confirmed cases and 19,565 listed as probable. Read more.
