Doug Jones in Quarantine After Wife Tests Positive for COVID-19
Sen. Doug Jones reported Wednesday that his wife, Louise, had tested positive for COVID-19 and he was quarantining while taking care of her.
“She’s not feeling too good but is ok, as am I with a negative test,” Jones said in a tweet.
Jones said he had hoped his last vote in the Senate would be to override President Trump’s veto of the National Defense Authorization Act. But he will not be able to take part in that vote, expected to come Friday. Jones is leaving office after failing in his re-election bid this year.
Jones urged fellow senators to override the veto in a video with his tweet:
I worked really hard on the NDAA & I was hoping that my last vote in the Senate would be to override Trump’s veto. But my wonderful running mate Louise tested positive so I am quarantining & taking care of her. She’s not feeling too good but is ok, as am I with a negative test. pic.twitter.com/7WNAaluWc6
