ID Required at the Polls
You must show an approved form of photo ID to vote in Alabama elections. The photo IDs accepted are:
- Valid Alabama driver’s license or nondriver’s license. The ID can be expired for no more than 60 days.
- IDs issued by the state or federal government, including valid U.S. passports, military ID or tribal ID.
- Valid employee ID from the federal state, or any government entities of the state.
- Valid student or employee ID from post-secondary schools.
- If you do not have one of these IDs, a free Alabama photo voter ID can be obtained at the Board of Registrars Office in the Jefferson County courthouse downtown.
