A new site distributing the COVID-19 virus vaccine has been opened at Legion Field.

The site is open to anyone who is eligible under state guidelines, and no appointment is necessary. It’s on the east side of Legion Field, which previously has been used as a testing site for the virus; those tests are still available.

The site opened Tuesday with 200 doses. Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The site is sponsored by the Birmingham City Council as part of a larger effort to make more vaccination sites available to residents.

Some form of identification is required to receive the shots.
