Report Problems at the Polls
BirminghamWatch has partnered with ProPublica to offer Alabama voters the opportunity to notify us if problems arise at the polls.
The partnership program, known as Electionland, is a collaborative effort with news operations nationwide to cover what happens at the polls Nov. 3.
Voters may report issues that include long lines, harassment at the polls, mechanical failures or other issues that cause voter disruption.
There are several ways to report problems:
- SMS: Text the word VOTE or VOTA (for Spanish) to 81380 (standard text message rates apply).
- WhatsApp: Send the word VOTE or VOTA to 1-850-909-8683.
- Facebook Messenger: Go to m.me/electionland.
- Complete the form below to share your election experience so ProPublica and its partners can investigate.
Also report your problems to:
- The chief inspector of the precinct.
- The county probate judge. In Jefferson County, call either 205-325-5203 or 205-325-5420.
- The county sheriff. In Jefferson County, call 205-325-5700.
- The Secretary of State’s Office at 334-242-7200.
- The state political parties. The Alabama Republican Party’s number is 205-212-5900, and the Alabama Democratic Party has a “Voter Protection Hotline” at 1-833-468-6832.
- Local NAACP chapters.
