Moving Average Number of COVID-19 Cases Declines for Sixth Consecutive Day
The moving weekly average number of cases of COVID-19 per day in Alabama dropped for the sixth consecutive day Sunday as the state Department of Public Health reported 722 cases over the past 24 hours. The agency's daily Dashboard showed a total of 104,079 cases, plus 4,354 individuals listed as probable victims of the disease, since the pandemic began in mid-March. There were two deaths reported Sunday, raising the overall total to 1,830, with another 68 listed as probable. The average number of new cases per day for the past week stood at 906. That figure has declined every day since an average of 1,352 on Aug. 10. The highest seven-day moving average was 1,851 cases per day on July 19. Read more.
Daily Average Number of COVID-19 Cases Falls to Lowest Level Since Early July
The number of new COVID-19 cases in Alabama rose to 1,161 in Saturday's count, but the daily average for the past week fell to its lowest point since July 2. The Alabama Department of Public Health's dashboard showed a total of 103,357 cases since the pandemic began in mid-March. The update for the past 24 hours listed three deaths, bringing the overall total to 1,828. An additional 4,113 cases and 68 deaths were listed as probably related to the disease. For the past week, the state has averaged 963 new cases a day, marking the first time the seven-day average has dropped below 1,000 since July 2.
