Professional experience: Small business owner, principal consultant with Absolute Solutions, a public affairs consulting firm, since 2006; executive director of the nonprofit Alabama Minority Health Institute, since 2002; worked as aide to former U.S. Reps. Earl Hilliard and Glen Browder, 1992-94.
