City of Birmingham

    • Item 4 – This item amends the management agreement between the City of Birmingham and the Birmingham Civil Rights Museum to allow an additional $500,000 “for the special needs” of the Institute. The facility recently closed to the public for several days due to issues with their building’s HVAC system.
  • Birmingham City Council, Jun. 9, 9:30 a.m. | Agenda
    • Item 1 – This is the much-talked-about public hearing about amendments to the city’s zoning ordinance related to data centers. It is the second reading
    • Item 2 – This seeks to allow a convenience store with a drive-through at 202 Sayreton Dr. N. If the project proceeds, it will be fairly close to the existing Pilot Travel Center along Daniel Payne Dr. in Hooper City.
  • Public Safety Committee, Jun. 9, 1 p.m. | Agenda
    • Item 8 – This ordinance, submitted by the Birmingham Police Department, executes an agreement between it and the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District “to provide a law enforcement task force and Community Safety Partnership related to HABD’s High-Intensity Community Oriented Police Patrol Program” at designated properties for a period of up to two (2) years. HABD will provide funding in an amount not to exceed $2,368,526.32 to cover personnel costs, expenses, and reimbursement for the maintenance, fuel, and repair of vehicles. The City will provide officers, one sergeant and one lieutenant.
